The implementation of the Just Transition Fund (JTF) in European regions which are affected the most by the transition towards a climate-neutral economy is of particular importance for the refinery region Schwedt/Oder in the Uckermark as well as for the coal region Lausitz. For the implementation of the JTF via territorial just transitions plans under the umbrella of the ERDF/JTF Brandenburg 2021-2027 programme a strategic environmental assessment had to be conducted.
ÖIR implemented the strategic environmental assessment including the consultation of authorities and the public. The project team identified potential negative impacts on the environment and provided recommendations for improvement of the programme. Furthermore, the assessment of compatibility with the „do no significant harm principle” (DNSH) was conducted as well by ÖIR.
