Through the European Neighbourhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD), the European Union contributes to poverty alleviation in rural Georgia by supporting job creation and income opportunities. OIR is taking part in one of the new EU-funded rural development projects, in Keda municipality, in Georgia´s Adjara region. The three-year long project, led by CENN (Caucasus Environmental NGO Network) follows the EU-LEADER approach and accordingly aims at promoting a bottom-up, inclusive rural development strategy that fully engages all communities in Keda, in particular women and youth. The kick-off meeting took place in Batumi on May 30th, 2017. At OIR, Bernd Schuh, Helene Gorny and Ursula Mollay will provide advisory support on how to apply and adapt the EU-LEADER approach to the region as well as contribute to developing knowledge materials and training to raise awareness and capacity building.
