An expert team from Vienna and Pristina – iC consulenten, the architecture firm URBAN PLUS from Pristina and Christof Schremmer from ÖIR – has finished a feasibility study for the “Regeneration of the Green Market area” in the historic centre of Kosovo´s capital.

The proposed activities encompass a new Market to replace the existing derelict site, a range of enhancements for the Agushi Square, new underground parking and pedestrian zones designed to harmoniously integrate with the broader urban fabric. Because of its prominent role as a gateway to the inner city and its central location it is important to deliver a high-quality development in order to make the site a generator for future development of the surrounding area.

Based on an integrated Masterplan, provided through the feasibility study, the two projects needed a detailed and well-coordinated implementation process. The Delivery Model provided by ÖIR has outlined for two separate projects, the Green Market & Agushi Square project to be jointly realised with an underground parking facility, the Green Market Parking.

The Delivery Model options were analysed in an overview of the pros and cons, considering different ownership and organizational structures in the relations between the city, its agencies, private developers, tenants and customers.

For the delivery of the Green Market & Agushi Square project it is recommended to form a new city-owned company which should provide detailed planning for investment and also run the operation. The Green Market Parking project can be delivered through the existing, city owned Prishtina Parking Co.
