As part of the European Neighborhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development, a Georgian delegation took part in a study trip to Austria from April 15th to 19th, 2024. The aim of the study trip, led by Joanne Tordy, was to share the wealth of experience of the two LEADER regions Eisenstraße and Südliches Waldviertel / Nibelungengau and their stakeholders with the new Local Action Groups currently being established in Georgia.

The 17 participants visited 13 LEADER projects and were able to exchange ideas on site with the beneficiaries, the LAG managers and the LEADER chairpersons. In Vienna, representatives from the Ministry and the national rural network explained the basics of implementing LEADER in Austria. A visit from the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), which has been active in Georgia for years, was also included in the packed program. The project is managed by the Georgian NGO CENN (Caucasus Environmental NGO Network) in cooperation with ÖIR and implemented in close collaboration with the LAG managements.
