Under the topic “Where are European cities heading? Evidence for better policy-making”, an ESPON seminar was held from 7 to 8 of December in Bratislava. Due to the great success in the first call for tenders of Applied Research projects and the current demand for further development of Territorial Impact Assessment (TIA), OIR was involved in many of the different sessions.

Within the policy lab on „Climate Change and the future of cities“, Christof Schremmer discussed the possible contribution of low-carbon economy approaches and their territorial dimension. Under the topic „Embracing residents and newcomers“, Stephanie Kirchmayr-Novak discussed the implications of an EU-wide strategy on the integration of refugees and migrants into the labour market. Erich Dallhammer und Bernd Schuh together with the CoR and ESPON held a workshop on using TIA for policy development. The documentation of the seminar and presentations are available under this link.
