OIR (project director Erich Dallhammer, in cooperation with the Politechnico Milano, OTB Delft and the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency) has finalized its ESPON project ARTS (Assessment of Regional and Territorial Sensitivity), which has developed a hands-on, easily handled tool for territorial impact assessment of policy interventions. The charming aspect of the project was the development of a tangible product for decision makers. This has lead to a number of implementation activities of the project: the project has been presented in the plenary session of the last ESPON Seminar in Krakow (Poland), at the Seminar “Latvia and Baltics in ESPON research projects. – The use of ESPON concepts” organized by the State Regional Development Agency of Latvia (Riga) and the seminar of the EU Committee of Regions “Inter-institutional cooperation in assessing the impact of EU legislation – New tools to detect territorial impacts” (Brussels). – With these activities the implementation of the ARTS tool has been successfully prolonged.
