Following the call of EU Commission president von der Leyen for strategic independence, the Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform (STEP) with the intent to boost investments in critical technologies in Europe has been developed. The draft regulation has been presented by the Commission, and has now been subject to an external impact assessment conducted by the Committee of the Regions. On October 2nd, Roland Gaugitsch and Erich Dallhammer moderated a Territorial Impact Assessment (TIA) Workshop to support the regional perspective of the impacts.
