Resilience of European regions to the energy crisis

The study on the impact of the energy crisis and in particular the recent gas crisis on the regional transformation towards climate neutrality is published. It was commissioned by the European Parliament and carried out by ÖIR with the participation of partner t33 and external experts Tullio Buccellato and Sari Rannappää. The project team analysed the EU policies on climate neutrality with a special focus on the Just Transition Plans and RePowerEU initiative. Based on the dependence on energy imports and differentiation of the economy, potential risks for the economies of EU regions were identified. Future scenarios were also developed in order to identify the drivers and barriers of transition. Finally, the project team formulated recommendations for the European Parliament.
