On June 24th 2015 the EIB and the DG for Agriculture and Rural Development organised the first high level EAFRD fi-compass conference in Dublin. This event has been the kick-off to a series of events in EU member states, which shall further the understanding of how financial instruments can help in efforts to deliver EAFRD objectives. It showed how new initiatives, including fi-compass and also EC-EIB co-operation in Agriculture and Rural Development, can support the efforts to implement financial instruments.

The event has been opened by Phil Hogan, Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Wilhelm Molterer, Vice President of the EIB and Czesław Adam Siekierski, Chair of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development, European Parliament. Bernd Schuh from OIR presented the first draft of the handbook on ex-ante assessments for Financial Instruments in the EAFRD context, which is the first assignment within the framework contract with the EIB providing consultancy on FIs in the context of agriculture and rural development.
