Actual demographic prognoses and studies on housing market show an ongoing demand for housing in the region of Rheintal. In order to define the level of housing demand to be expected within the region of 29 municipalities, OIR analysed the past development of population, households and housing units and compared different existing prognoses for the future development of households and housing units in the region. Based on these analyses different spatially differentiated scenarios for the housing demand until 2030 were elaborated. Christof Schremmer from OIR and Peter Moser from SRZ presented the findings and conclusions in two regional workshops and discussed the results with local experts from municipalities, housing policy and regional policy.
