Understanding the position of one\u2019s region or city in a larger territorial context and inclu\u00adding a European perspective in strategy building and policy ma\u00adking is of major impor\u00adtance for utilising new and under\u00adused territorial poten\u00adtials. There are great potentials in the ESPON knowledge base for dealing with these chal\u00adlenges and poten\u00adtials. DeTeC is an ESPON scien\u00adtific platform project that strives to enhance the accessibility of the ESPON knowledge base and to sup\u00adport local and regional practi\u00adtioners and policy makers by the following actions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Conducting six regional workshops (\u201cRegional Labs\u201d) in Edinburgh (UK), Malm\u00f6 (SE), Valetta (MT), Graz (AT), Bialystok (PL) and Szeged (HU), discussing the added value of ESPON projects, tools and data for regional and municipal stakeholders in spatial planning and regional development. <\/li><li>Developing an interactive handbook that provides hands-on guidance to methods, data, tools and good practices developed in ESPON projects which can help detecting territorial potentials and challenges in regions and cities.
