It is the first comprehensive research on European spatial planning since 1997. The project substantially improves the knowledge based on territorial governance and spatial planning, and in particular, their role in the formulation and implementation of EU Cohesion Policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"881\" height=\"573\" src=\"https:\/\/www.oir.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/800930.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4738\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.oir.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/800930.png 881w, https:\/\/www.oir.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/800930-480x312.png 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 881px, 100vw\" \/><figcaption>Levels and Instruments of spatial planning in Austria, \u00a9 \u00d6IR GmbH<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00d6IR conducted two of the case studies \u2013 Austria and Liechtenstein. The main task of \u00d6IR was to describe the current structure and the changes in spatial planning systems of the two countries from 2000 to 2016 and how EU policy has influenced the systems. Special attention is given to the relationship between the role of spatial planning and the Cohesion policy of the European Union.
