From statistical data collection on a national basis \u201eending\u201c at the border, to datasets not being harmonised between national statistical offices to oftentimes a general lack of cooperation form authorities on either side, the difficulties are numerous. In the &#8216;European Network for Cross-Border Monitoring&#8217;, statisticians, authorities and users of data in such areas are working together to overcome some of the issues.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Borders within Europe create special areas in their vicinity, facing common challenges and posing common issues to anyone trying to monitor them. From statistical data collection on a national basis \u201eending\u201c at the border, to datasets not being harmonised between national statistical offices to oftentimes a general lack of cooperation form authorities on either side, the difficulties are numerous. In the &#8216;European Network for Cross-Border Monitoring&#8217;, statisticians, authorities and users of data in such areas are working together to overcome some of the issues.
