On January 25th, 2023, the ÖIR team organised an online dialogue on the topic of the energy crisis in the European Union: State of play & solution approaches. This online dialogue is part of a series of workshops and conferences regularly organised by ÖIR. During those events, completed and on-going projects are presented, including the methods and procedures applied.
During this online dialogue, four projects, addressing various aspects related to energy crisis, climate neutrality and transition pathways were presented by Kinga Hat, Arndt Münch and Roland Gaugitsch. The presented projects included the studies commissioned by the Committee of The Regions: the Local and Regional Barometer, the Renovation Wave and the Territorial Impact Assessment of the RePowerEU initiative as well as by the European Parliament: the study on EU regions’ climate neutrality.
The participants discussed how the current energy crisis can be tackled through cross-sectoral approaches, mobilising and activating public and private actors as well as the civil society, at various governance levels.
