The aim of this project is to further develop and optimize the methodology of the OIR project “Regional Challenges in the Perspective of 2020” (commissioned by DG Regio) by a detailed investigation of vulnerabilities in four selected provinces (Upper Austria, Lower Austria, Styria, Kassel / Germany). A special focus is on the challenges of “climate change” and “energy”. This will increase the robustness and reliability of the results of the EU study and increase the degree of detail. The aim of the vulnerability analysis is to prepare information on exposure, sensitivity and adaptability of the regions for stakeholders at regional and national level. Climate and energy policies, as well as adaptation and reduction measures are particularly considered.

The project includes an extensive stakeholder process that involves provincial authorities and other regional key stakeholders.
