Population growth in city and suburbs, high fuel prices, parking management: a continued strong growth in the demand for public transport is expected for the Vienna region. On behalf of ÖBB Infrastruktur AG the ÖIR developed the basics, such as traffic forecasting and impact analysis, to coordinate the future required rail infrastructure between the city of Vienna and the Verkehrsverbund Ostregion VOR (transport association for Austria’s eastern regions).

Aim of the study is the well-organised and efficient provision of public transport supply as well as the increase of the modal split of public transport.
