With the support of the World Bank, a new strategy for Romania’s mountain regions was developed as part of a comprehensive process. Over a period of one year, intensive basic research and a series of stakeholder participation processes took place in all mountain regions in order to develop the cornerstones of the strategy.

ÖIR carried out the ex-ante evaluation to accompany the development of the strategy. This involved carrying out a territorial impact assessment based on the TIA tool developed for Romania. The project team also developed a comprehensive indicator system for monitoring implementation as well as an overview of possible sources of funding for the realisation of the planned projects.
