The project delivers a consolidated and updated stock of territorial data at NUTS 3 level for regions located on the internal borders (land and maritime) of the EU countries, as well as for the regions placed on the borders with the EFTA countries (Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland). For each of the 48 border regions, a comprehensive assessment of territorial data and qualitative governance analyses was provided as input to the 2028+ programming period.
With the ÖIR taking a leading role in the technical conceptualisation of the fiches and drafting several of them, the consortium provided territorial evidence, key observations and policy options for the cross-border programmes to explore. The resulting cross-border profiles follow a consistent structure and use the same indicators, analytical framework and visualisation methods. They represent a key input to the policy dialogue leading up to the next Interreg A funding period.
