In the Allgäu-Außerfern border region, many people interested in training and further education face problems with the recognition of qualifications in the neighbouring country. There are also a number of administrative barriers that hinder the uptake of cross-border educational opportunities. To address these issues, a project was set up as part of the DG REGIO’s b-solutions initiative to analyse these barriers.
Based on legal analyses, document analyses and expert interviews, the project team at ÖIR assessed the existing legal and administrative barriers in a structured manner. As part of a subsequent stakeholder workshop in the region, approaches to solutions and possible cooperations to improve the situation were subsequently discussed with regional players to develop joint solutions.
