Targeted application of (territorial) impact assessments in the overburdened policymaking process is of high relevance for resource efficient processes which nevertheless achieve the required detailedness. The recently developed tool “TIA Necessity Check” allows policymakers to easily assess the relevance of a Territorial impact Assessment for any given policy. At this years EWRC, Bernd Schuh and Roland Gaugitsch demonstrated the practical application of the pre-check with an example case. Furthermore, representatives of DG REGIO, the CoR and ESPON presented practical applications and the latest developments related to territorial impact assessment.
