The Austrian-Liechtenstein co-presidency of the EU Strategy for the Alpine Region (EUSALP) ended with December 2025, and with that, a key focus of this presidency: the comprehensive renewal of the macro-regional strategy’s action plan.
The ÖIR accompanied the process of renewal and led the drafting of the new action plan. Erich Dallhammer, Manon Badouix and Mailin Gaupp-Berghausen, as well as Arndt Münch and Michelle Wiest, provided technical support to the co-presidency throughout the entire development process.
The strategic objectives, thematic priorities and implementation logic of the Action Plan were further developed in close cooperation with representatives of the seven EUSALP countries and regions, during several task force meetings. The aim was to focus EUSALP more strongly on the challenges ahead in the Alpine region and to sharpen its strategic impact.
The revised Action Plan was officially adopted and published at the end of December by the General Assembly of all EUSALP representatives. It now forms the basis for future cooperation in the Alpine region and the implementation of joint projects within the framework of the macro-regional strategy.
