The European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI) supports the implementation of large investment projects in Europe. Ursula Mollay and Wolfgang Neugebauer elaborated two case studies for the study ‘The role of local and regional authorities in the implementation of the EFSI: opportunities and challenges’ (commissioned by the European Committee of the Regions): ‘InnovFin SME Guarantee Facility’ facilitates the granting of loans to innovative small and medium-sized enterprises in Germany, “Urban Renewal Housing Climate Framework Loan” in Lisbon co-finances the provision of urban infrastructure. The case studies base on desk research and a series of interviews with key stakeholders. The study can be downloaded here.
