In September 2015, the Austrian Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology together with the Technical University of Graz organized a field trip in order to explore experiences from different actors in the field of energy aware urban development. The broad spectrum of visited projects comprised Smart City and Sustainability strategies for the entire cities, use of IT and data, planning of new and transformation of existing urban areas as well as exciting demo-projects on smart buildings and low-tech solutions for bridges and metro-stations.

In the follow up of interesting presentations from cities’ urban planners and energy experts combined by sight visits the Austrian delegation of experts from Graz, Salzburg and Vienna including Ursula Mollay from OIR discussed the new experiences from their perspective.
