The regional Government of Burgenland (Austria) enacted first zones for wind park according to the new spatial planning law. This enables the longtime prepared repowering of four existing wind parks and the enlargement of two other wind parks. OIR prepared the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) for the zoning in close co-operation with experts for nature protection, ornithology and bats. The project team – Erich Dallhammer, Raffael Koscher, Joanne Tordy and Cristian Andronic – analysed the effects of the wind plants on the landscape by 3D-visualizations. Based on the results of the analysis framework conditions for wind plants were defined, e.g. the total hight, the size of the rotor and the distance to settlements.).
