In view of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as well as the New Urban Agenda being adopted by the United Nations in 2016, the European Committee of the Regions has commissioned OIR with drafting a file note on “Spatial planning and governance within EU policies and legislation and their relevance to the New Urban Agenda”. Erich Dallhammer, Roland Gaugitsch and Wolfgang Neugebauer identified the relevant policies and legislation with significant influence on spatial planning measures by national, regional and local authorities. Building on that, the potential impact of those policies and legislation on the SDGs and the goals of the New Urban Agenda concerning planning issues has been outlined, taking into regard territorial and sectoral factors as well. The note has been published on the website of the Committee of the Regions – Download here.
