ÖIR is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the contract for the European Parliament study “Improving Essential Services in EU Regions: The Role of Cohesion Policy”. The study is commissioned by the European Parliament’s Committee on Regional Development (REGI) through its Policy Department for Cohesion, Agriculture and Social Policies. The project will investigate how Cohesion Policy Funds contribute to preventing depopulation and enhancing the attractiveness of economically vulnerable regions, with a focus on improving access to key services such as healthcare, childcare, and services to people. It will provide concrete policy recommendations to strengthen the role of Cohesion Policy in ensuring the long-term provision and accessibility of essential services, particularly in remote and rural areas. The study is led by Arndt Münch with contributions from Sabrina Mansutti and Manon Badouix.
