On October 17 our symposium ‚Future of Spatial Planning‘ took place at the IBM Client Center in Vienna. The occasion for this symposium was the 80th birthday of Fritz Schindegger. Several speakers inspired the listeners to think beyond the day-to-day working routine. First, Sabine Zillmer from Spatial Foresight Germany talked about the European perspective in spatial planning. The presentation was followed by a speech of Josef Plank, Secretary General of the Federal Ministry for Sustainability and Tourism in Austria, talking about the challenges of spatial planning in context of climate change. Dominik Dittrich, head of the regional spatial planning in Lower Austria, provided a new perspective at the federal state level. Before the discussion with more than 50 listeners started, Fritz Schindegger explained in a podium talk with Christof Schremmer, ÖIR, his very personal view at the future of spatial planning.
