Arndt Münch presented the results of the “Study on funding for EU rural areas” at a European Commission workshop on 16 and 17 May in Brussels. The study was commissioned by DG AGRI and identified how much EU funding goes to rural areas in the EU, from the CAP, cohesion policy and the fishery policy. Further, the study team assessed national strategies to support rural development and the use of integrated delivery tools, such as LEADER/CLLD and Integrated Territorial Instruments.

This technical Workshop was the final workshop of a discussion series to reflect on CAP implementation and further policy development for the post-2027 period. The workshop involved the European Commission, the Members of the Civil Dialogue Group on CAP Strategic Plans and Horizontal Matters, as well as the Members of the Expert Group on the Implementation of the CAP Strategic Plans Regulation. The workshop speakers included a series of experts, presenting findings on needs in rural areas, such as demography and out-migration, basic services, and quality of life.
