The ESPON TIA Upgrade project has officially started. This pan-European research initiative, funded by ESPON, aims to strengthen and modernise Territorial Impact Assessment (TIA) for use at national and subnational levels. The project is being led by ÖIR in cooperation with CASE – Center for Social and Economic Research, the University of Ljubljana, Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, and Palacký University Olomouc.

Over the next 18 months, the project team will develop a more robust and flexible TIA framework. The project will explore how TIA can be better integrated into national and regional policy and legislative processes. The project will provide practical guidance, tested application pathways, and user-oriented materials to help authorities incorporate territorial considerations more effectively into policy design.

At ÖIR side the project is coordinated by Roland Gaugitsch and Sabrina Mansutti.
