Is continuous and sustainable cross-border data collection and production possible? ÖIR has been contracted by DG REGIO to conduct a study on cross-border data collection. In collaboration with our partner, Statistics Netherlands, and in cooperation with Statistics Denmark and the French National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE), we will collect and assess existing data on cross-border commuters to develop methodologies that will facilitate a pan-European production of comparable data. The core responsibility of our team, led by Roland Gaugitsch and Sabrina Mansutti, will be to coordinate the project as well as manage cooperation and dissemination activities among national, regional, and local stakeholders. The project will end in the early months of 2026 and the results will be shared in a final seminar.
