How can Local Intermediate Authorities (LIA) better prepare and plan for social and natural risks faced by their territories? How can they cope with multiple overlaying risks, and which response mechanisms do they have at their disposal? In the new ESPON ResiLIAnce project, ÖIR in a consortium led by Technopolis Group will support the European Confederation of Local Intermediate Authorities (CEPLI) and the participating stakeholders in answering these questions. At the kick-off meeting in Luxemburg, Roland Gaugitsch presented our approach to multi-hazard spatial analyses which will be implemented in the project. A key output of the project will be assessing the effectiveness and preparedness of these stakeholders’ response mechanisms, including monitoring, forecasting and emergency management, with the aim of improving place-based resilience strategies.
