In the research project LOCATE, OIR together with our project partners Energy Economics Group (TU Wien), Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research (ISI Karlsruhe) and Global Urban Research Unit (Newcastle University), analyzed consumption patterns of different sectors, their respective  share of renewables and the changes of renewable consumption in the past 10 years, covering all European regions at NUTS3 level.

On the basis of this assessment, the research team identified particular types of European regions and cities aiming at full use of their renewable energy potential and also policies needed to ensure the transition to a low-carbon economy/lifestyle. A number of regional case studies and an assessment of ERDF money spending on renewables focus on the policy part of the study. As lead partner of this European research project, the OIR team – Christof Schremmer, Florian Keringer, Raffael Koscher, Ursula Mollay, Joanne Tordy –  is pleased to inform about the publication of all project results.
