On April 23rd, 2018 a training session of the “ESPON TIA Quick check tool” took place in Brussels. Employees of the Committee of the Regions and the European Commission were trained in handling the tool for assessing spatial impacts of EU directives. The ESPON TIA tool has been under development since 2014. Currently the tool is improved and extended within the “ESPON TIA Tool Upgrade” project conducted by OIR in cooperation with the Spanish partner Laurentia.
As part of the seminar, Bernd Schuh and Roman Seidl facilitated handling the tool and gave tips and tricks for the moderation of TIA workshops to identify spatial impacts of EU directives and policies. Employees of different units of the Committee of the Regions and the European Commission learned about the benefits and limits of the methodology and the current tool and contributed valuable feed-back for further improvements.
