In May 2013 Gregori Stanzer from ÖIR supported the Office of the Government of Burgenland to guide an UNESCO Advisory Mission to the World Heritage property “Fertő-Neusiedler See Cultural Landscape”. The Advisory Mission was invited to analyze the existing and approved wind farms near Lake Fertő/Neusiedl. The aim of the mission: Seeking appropriate solutions to ensure that the Outstanding Universal Value of the property is sustained.

The aim of the mission: Seeking appropriate solutions to ensure that the Outstanding Universal Value of the property is sustained. The members of the UNESCO Advisory Mission appreciated the excellent organization of the Advisory Mission and the fine practice in Burgenland of cooperation between bird experts, nature protection experts, National Park members and spatial planners to develop ‘Regional Master Plans for wind power plants’. The mission report is in preparation.
