Development of bioeconomy strategies in EU regions

The EU bioeconomy objectives are to manage Europe’s resources sustainably, reduce the dependency on non-renewable resources while strengthening Europe’s competitiveness and creating jobs. This task calls for efforts on all governance level. While most EU Member States have a national bioeconomy strategy, regional strategies can more precisely harness the strengths and potential of EU regions.

A recent study conducted for the Joint Research Centre, by Stephanie Kirchmayr-Novak from OIR and Silke N. Haarich (Spatial Foresight) explores the distribution of regional bioeconomy strategies across European Member States.
